JAMES TAYLOR QUARTET
James Taylor, founding member of the infamous group The Prisoners formed The James Taylor Quartet, often referred to as JTQ. JTQ’s first single in 1985, “Blow Up” was a huge success appearing on the Festive 50 Chart for three years running. After an impressive 13 weeks on the Indie Singles Charts, JTQ decided to work on a mini album; Mission Impossible.
With JTQ’s following growing, the band were encouraged to put out a second album, The Money Spyder, but their attention to recording was drawn away by the overwhelming live audience following they had. With their focus aimed strongly at ‘live’ performances, JTQ toured relentlessly, selling out concerts.
The quartet released three more albums, Wait A Minute, Get Organized and Do Your Own Thing, which spawned a number of hit singles including the acclaimed and well-loved classic “The Theme from Starsky and Hutch.”
Performing to audiences millions strong over the years, JTQ started recording live albums, which never failed to leave a dent in the Top 40 charts. In one year, JTQ performed 150 shows spread over 15 countries, from as far as the USA to Japan and Thailand.
